A. Mr. Ship "Agincourt" Hongkong, 4 July, 184[?]

I beg to submit for your information, that the Officer who was sent from this Ship to the Post Office for letters, yesterday morning, though he was there during the time appointed for the Office being open, was refused the letters for this ship; and as the boat was more than half way on her return to the Ship, at half past nine, I cannot but consider it a hard case towards the Officers and Ship's Company, that the delivery of their letters should have been refused before she had arrived.

(Signed) H. W. Bruce, Rear Admiral

To Captain Thos. Cochrane, R.N., H.M.S. "Agincourt".

A true Copy.
